How to upgrade PC RAM and cost along with it?

Hi I've been playing an online PC game for a while now but it seems to jitter and lag quite a bit in open environments. My PC's other specs all hit the recommended range of the game but my RAM does not. How much would you say it costs to upgrade one's ram and how would you go about doing it?
